You, or someone acting on your behalf, can approach any board member or contact the Board at any time and present the request. Often, a supervisor, peer, chaplain, or SCDSA member will become aware of an employee's emergency financial need, and make a request on the employee's behalf.
Once a request reaches us, someone from the Board of Trustees will contact you to determine if you request emergency financial assistance, and what specifically are your needs. Not everyone is comfortable asking for assistance, and some people do not want financial assistance from the Verhoeven Foundation. The Board understands these circumstances, and we will not make further contact if that is your desire.
When an individual does request emergency financial assistance, we ask that a confidential financial statement be completed and submitted to the Board. Download the Financial Statement form.
Each request is taken individually, objectively reviewed by all the Board members, and voted upon. Someone from the Board, usually the member who originally contacted you, will advise as to the Board's final decision.
